In Vedic astrology, every planet casts a 7th aspect (the universal opposition). Certain planets like Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu also cast special aspects that create powerful, targeted influences on specific houses from wherever the planet is placed.
How Mercury Aspects Work
An aspect is counted from the house Mercury occupies. For example, if Mercury is in the 3rd house and casts a 5th aspect, it aspects the 7th house (3 + 5 - 1 = 7). The aspected house receives Mercury's energy directly, for better or worse depending on Mercury's dignity and strength.
Unlike house lordship, aspects are direct influences — the planet actively projects its energy onto the aspected house as if sitting there partially.
